Right now, no trade school training is even required to be a pharmacy technician. Most of them get some on the job training, that's it.

The only reason I don't take issue with the age is that I had a 19 yr old cousin who had not great training and got to be a pharmacy tech...but it was her nature to be conscientious as well as helpful, so she turned out to be good for both her customers and herself...she was always very sure to check -- I think because she was a Type I diabetic and had had some 'off' doses of insulin in her day....

Training- That is the key. Why colleges (or 'trade schools') don't get that lousy training=danger to patients....well, whatever.

I agree. It's just that being 19 usually correlates with little/no training and a frightening lack of experience.

When I was 19, I was a testosterone-overdosed, overconfident dumbass.

I don't find issue with the age, I find issue with the lack of training. If a 19-year-old had graduated college with the appropriate training I'd have no problem with her mixing my medicine. Funnily enough this came up in my Drugs & Health class yesterday. The girl who had worked in a pharmacy was one of my top students so I wasn't concerned in the least, but I understand that every 19-year-old would not be as mature as Ana.
